Eagleton’s large entry domes were unprotected for roof access. A unique system was designed because the Eagleton precast concrete façade was not strong enough to resist the forces to which roof anchors are subjected. The anchors had to be connected to the building’s steel structure below the stainless steel dome roofs. The solution was to install a collar around the dome skylights taking the connections back to the building’s structure. U-bar anchors were bolted to this collar and vertical rope-stops were located along the dome’s gutters. The system allows safe access to the domes without compromising the integrity of the roof.
