Metro purchased the Arch Riverboats as part of their business development function. Their objective was to create revenue while providing an important and enjoyable service to St. Louis tourism. Metro’s involvement on the riverfront is long standing and includes the operation of the Arch tram and the Arch parking garage.
Etegra was asked to prepare an improvement plan and design that would improve the ticketing, boarding, food service and outdoor dining functions. In addition, a new barge was be added to the complex and an office facility for the Arch Riverboats call center was built. Lastly, the entire image of the mooring complex was upgraded to represent the mid-19th century riverboats that ferry tourists up and down the river from this facility.
